Benefits and support whilst away
The patient may be in receipt of benefits to which they remain entitled during their time abroad. The local Benefits Office will be able to give advice and additional information is available on the website for the Department for work and pensions (www.dwp.gov.uk). If it were anticipated that medical care would be required whilst abroad, it would be prudent to contact the appropriate health care professional in the country of destination before travelling and forward an up-to-date summary of the patient’s condition.
