The Neil Cliffe Centre is run by a team of healthcare professionals: nurses, therapists and counsellors. They offer holistic support for people living with Cancer, their families and carers. All services are free of charge. Drop in any weekday between 10am and 4pm or phone for advice.

Both of the St. Ann’s Hospices and the Neil Cliffe Centre are part of the same organisation; their extensive website is at www.sah.org.uk. Please call the individual hospices for details of the holistic support available at each site.

Their supportive outpatient services are both physical and psychological, looking as much as possible at the broader needs of the person. Patients, carers and family members who are experiencing difficulty coping with a potentially progressive life-threatening illness can access a wide variety of services which are available at each of our three sites. The list of services below is an example only as services vary from site to site. They include: anxiety/relaxation skills, complementary therapies, psychological adjustment and coping therapies and fatigue management.

The Beechwood "Positive Living Programme" runs daily and aims to support people with cancer and their Carer’s. It offers complementary therapies and sessions aimed at helping them to develop new coping skills. All services are free of charge.

The Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm.



BASIC – Brain and Spinal Injury Centre

BASIC is a specialist resource for people and their families in crisis following a traumatic brain injury or neurological diagnosis. This includes people recovering from severe head injury, brain haemorrhage, Brain Tumour and other brain-related conditions.

They can provide emotional support, information and education, advice services, stress management, complementary therapies and more.

National Helpline: BASIC also has a confidential national helpline. When it was set up in 1995, it was the first ever national helpline for people recovering from brain surgery and it continues to provide vital support and advice for those in crisis.

Manchester Carers Forum exists to provide a collective voice for Carers in the City of Manchester. They organise breaks, extensive social events and holistic therapies for Carers and can help you access other support services in the area.

If you are living at home, you have the following rights concerning services provided by your local social services departments:
to ask for the social services department to make an assessment of the support you need carers in England are also entitled to an assessment of their needs to receive services such as home helps and meals on wheels if the social services department thinks you need them.

Cancer Counselling Trust LogoThe Cancer Counselling Trust

The Cancer Counselling Trust offers free, confidential emotional support to anyone in the UK – patient or family member, carer or friend - having difficulty in coping with a cancer diagnosis, treatment or progression. The team of qualified counsellors and psychotherapists all have many years’ experience of working with cancer issues and the service is available both face to face in London or over the phone for anyone living too far away or who is too ill to travel.
