Behind the Mask Exhibition 2010 and beyond... 7 Years, 6 Months ago
As many of you know we currently have an exhibition heading various places around the country entitled 'Behind the Mask'.

The exhibition aims to highlight the brain tumour cause and show those who visit it many aspects of the brain tumour journey. From the 'what is a brain tumour?' to stories from survivors, celebrities and sweeties like Fifi!

Made up of around 15 (and increasing weekly!) decorated radiotherapy masks the exhibition also aims to help patients turn their experiences with their own masks into something positive and, to also highlight to radiographers how patients feel when being fitted for and using their mask.

The exhibition is currently in Liverpool and next firm plans are for November 2010 when it will be at the House of Commons.

Ideally we would like to have the exhibition on display at least 1 week a month until then and would really like your thoughts on the following areas:

1. Cambridge
2. Worcester
3. Leeds

Do you know any of these places well enough to suggest a venue? Would you like to help if we come to any of the above places, or, do you have any ideas for other locations you think might benefit from the mask exhibition?

We would love to get some thoughts and ideas from you guys, and, just because we hope to 'end' on a high in November doesn't mean we will be packing the display up for good. The idea is that, for those happy to keep their mask in the display on a more permanent basis, we will use 'Behind the Mask' as an awareness tool not just in the UK but across the globe too.

So, now it's over to you for ideas on venues and any suggestions you might have about what we should or shouldn't include in the exhibition.

Thanks in advance for your help

Natalya,

I would be willing to help if you were doing something anywhere within 1 hour drive or train journey of Reading. Unfortunately Leeds, Cambridge and Worcester are all a bit far.

What are you looking for in a venue ?

My brain isn't very good at imaginative stuff just now I think I have sympathetic cognitive deficits (except Peter is lucky not to really have any at the moment).

Will keep thinking about it though.

Thank you for all you do,

Fiona

Hi Jane and Fiona,

Thanks for both your messages

Fiona - I would be more than happy to work with you on holding the exhibition somewhere in or near Reading at some point. Drop me an email at natalya@btbuddies.org.uk and we can take things from there!

And Jane - I am sure I was going to ring you last week LOL Time flies when you're snowed under! You free tomorrow? xx

natalya,

We have the metro centre close by, which used to be the largest shopping centre in europe ( not sure if it still is ).I have e mailed them with the details of the website and asked if they would take a look and if this was something they would allow hope you dont mind.
Hope everyones treatment is going along well and everyone who has suffered a loss gets througth this even if it is a day at a time.I can say througth personnel experience it does get easier. My brother died of this horrible disease 18 year ago and my mother still finds it hard at birthdays xmas and any other special occasions. His wife lives in birmingham but they manange to speak on the phone and meet up a few times a year which i know helps both of them. She has never re married or even had a serious relationship but she knows she would have all our blessings if she did.I dont post much as i find it quite hard but do log in and read posts.I still havnt worked out if this is good or bad for me keep up the good work natalya my daughter ran the race for life last week and 50% of her sponsership money will be on its way soon
