Advice needed please 2 Years ago
Hello everyone,
I have told my story on here sseveral times so I will keep this intro short. I was diagnosed with a grade 2/3 oligoastrocytoma in september which grew back to a grade 4 in february I have had 3 ops in that time and during my latest one I had gliadel wafers inserted into the tumour cavity. Last week I began a course of CT and RT and I am starting to feel quite unwell and it is all starting to get me down.
I am very swollen in the top half of my body so much so I can't get myself into/ out of bed my husband has to help me and this makes me feel tota;;y useless. I struggle to get up and down the stairs as it just takes so much energy which I feel I don't have. There doesn't seem to be any improvement - I don't expect this everday but I would like to feel some changes by now. i would really appreciate to hear off anyone who has been through a similar experience as I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if there is something I should be doing differently as I am at the end of my tether with all this now. Please get in touch if you feel you csn help, send me a pm if you prefer.
Many thanks in advance I don't know what to do anymore
Sam x

Hi Sam
I'm so sorry you're going through all this and not surprised you are despairing at the moment. How are you feeling today, any better?
I know I can't offer any useful advice but I just wanted to let you know you're not on your own, for all you might feel that way sometimes. I'm thinking of you and sending you lots of good vibes that you will hopefully start to feel the more positive effects of the treatment soon.
You are not useless, you are just poorly at the moment, and if things were the other way round you would be doing the same for your husband as he is currently doing for you - that's what love and marriage is all about - helping each other through the tough times.
Please keep posting and let us know how you're doing. Sending you a big virtual cuddle - you're a great girl and don't you ever forget it!
Love Deb xxxx

I have had a better day today, still tired but thats something i am going to have to get used to i think! i have always been the type of person to get craggy if i dont get enough sleep and that cerrtainly idnt going to change!
I saw my ns today and hes very happy with how things are going so maybe im being too hard on myself. he put down a lot of the problems i am having to the steroids and rt.

sorry to hear your felling horrible Sam. My mum is just going into her 4th week of chemo and RT, she has reported that she is unbelievably tired and sore, she has also started to feel sick. The radiographer said to mum to ween off the steriods and some of the weakness that she felt and the swelling has gone down. With the steriods my mum had lots of swelling on one of her cheeks and the mask that she has to wear for the treatment was very tight and she was very frightened of having the treatment. The whole thing is horrible but please keep your chin up and my best wishes are with you.
Claire
